Final Project Brief

The story of the Fork, Knife and Spoon who metamorphosed into real life people and how change the way a dinner table is laid....

Knife = metamorphoses into a crack head (drugy)
Fork = metamorphoses into a jock (football guy)
Spoon = metamorphoses into a plastic (beautiful girl)

This animated narrative evolves the conflict of which dinning tool gets to be positioned with the spoon. The plate that separates these three characters is the "battlefield" that is used to settle the conflict.

How will this relate to animation and why do I choose to use these significant people/stereotypes to be the fork, knife and spoon to life. The answer is quite simple....

It is a fair suggestion that if a knife were a person he would be something of a bad example for a role model. Therefore I have come to the conclusion that he will have the stereotypical image of a crack head and always be as high as a kite.

The human image of the fork was a little tricky because I tried to make a connection between man and a fork's purpose. In addition to this we use a fork to pick our food up, instantly I thought of an American football player because it was the first image that I had. Consequently this would clearly make it the simplest image because it was the first and it relates well to a forks use at the dinner table.

Finally the image of the spoon came extremely quickly and its fairly obvious what it would be if it were a human, a woman with an amazing backside. However I decided to give this character a little more complexity therefore this character is not a dumb blond she is a brunette.

The story
The first impression we get from this piece of animation is a simple dinner table with a plate in the middle of the three stars in this fabula. As we move into the initiating shots of this story we come to terms with what shape of a woman the spoon morphs into with close ups of the spoon coming to life.
Then we follow up with the fork and knife coming into the shot as the tools themselves before their metamorphosis. Both characters then come into clearer camera focus as they turn into the characterised human forms.
Both characters notice and acknowledge the fact that a beautiful girl (the spoon) is in the middle of the two of them. Therefore they argue over whose side she should be on. In addition to this they decide to settle this battle by have a "chug" competition. (I chose this because we all drink here in University, so it relates more to my target market).
Eventually after several seconds the Jock beats the crack head (fork defeats the knife) and then throws him back into his place, alone on the other side of the plate.
Our conflict is now resolved and the girl joins the jock on the other side of the plate, however the twist is as they cuddle laying down metamorphosis occurs. Due to this transition the spoon and fork become a serving fork.
The End

The Creation

This piece of animation will be a formulation of photoshoping, after effecting and capturing in a program called Final Cut Pro. The Raw material will be constructed through the use of actors that will be transformed into animated characters through the use of photoshop.

The schedule

Actors, evaluations, discussions and tools we be put into process for 2nd November.

9th November everything will have been recorded raw, edited and captured in Final Cut Pro.

16th November the shots will have deconstructed into 10 Milli-second shots that will be animated in photo shop. 50% or more of the animation in photo shop will be completed.

23rd November ALL animation should be completed for reviewing and rendering back into a 1 minute piece of animation film.

30th November Any additional pieces of work in after effects can be added to the movie and then rendered to the movie turning it into a more professional construction.
